Citizen Alum Summer Institute at the J Center June 11-12 2013

The inaugural Citizen Alum Summer Institute is full. Due to robust demand, we raised the cap for the inaugural Citizen Alum Summer Institute. Designed to support the work of Citizen Alum teams  in the coming year, the Institute will meet in Minneapolis next week. The Jandris Center for Innovative Higher Education at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (“the J Center”) will host a diverse group of 34, including community engagement staff, faculty members, alumni relations professionals, recent and non-so-recent graduates, academic program directors, deans, and leaders of key national networks.  Thanks to Professor David Weerts and his team  at the J Center for their vision and commitment. Sessions will focus on:

  • planning with allies;
  • connecting civic engagement and inclusion;
  • integrating Citizen Alum into the curriculum; and
  • building research capacity.

The concluding session will be held jointly with the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Council on Engagement and Outreach, followed by a reception.

The J Center strives to disrupt assumptions, reframe problems, and envision scenarios to create a better future for higher education and society.
